Choosing The Correct Media

Evaluate Your Application Requirements
If you are unsure of which label material or ribbon to use, you will need to consider some basic questions concerning your application.

• Do you require a label or tag?
• Must the label or tag meet UL/CSA government specifications?
• What is the surface to which the label will be applied?
• What is the condition of the surface (smooth, grooved, dirty, clean)?
• What environmental stresses must the label/bag withstand (moisture, chemicals, abrasion, outdoors, UV light)?
• What is the minimum temperature at the time you apply the label?
• What is the temperature range the label must withstand throughout its life?
• How will the label be read?

Please keep in mind that if your printer does not have a ribbon option, you will be selecting Direct Thermal media unless you change printers.
